TJ's Gym Weekly News 06/14/2019

We've been announcing the start of the Summer Consistency Challenge during classes this week. The printed scorecards are in the gyms, and there is a downloadable version in the newsletter.
It costs zero dollars and zero cents to join the challenge. After I talk about the challenge in my classes, someone inevitably asks, "What do I win?"
Well, first of all you win a lower likelihood of not dying young or uncomfortably. You see, most of these challenges are meant to keep you connected to a longer term commitment to yourself and your health. We decided to do something this summer because as a suburban community, by the end of August we typically get a barrage of information suggesting that it is difficult for people in our community to eat well and stay consistent with positive lifestyle choices, including workouts, sleep, and generally refraining from booze.
When members come back from summer trips and vacations, it's often a sort of code-red dumpster fire fueled by Reese’s Pieces sundaes and Señor Frog margarita buckets.
So, we decided to do a little something to keep everyone from going over the deep end. Slamming polarities is not a great way to live. Our message has been the same for awhile now: CONSISTENCY OVER INTENSITY.
My message is short this week, but the end-of-the-school-year crash hit me just as hard as everyone. I promise to have a cool story to tell next week. In the meantime, grab one of those cards and prove to yourself that you're comfortable being uncomfortable, no matter what the season is because growth is always possible and because your health is quite possibly the best prize of all.

SUMMER “CONSISTENCY” CHALLENGE: June 17th - August 17th. NO FEE TO PARTICIPATE!
Keep up, and even improve on, your fitness while having a blast this Summer, even if when you can’t make it to the gym! All participants will be invited to a special BBQ at the end of the Summer. Bingo cards will be in the gyms this weekend!
1. Do all 50 items and get a TJ’s shirt.
2. You must get a coach to sign off on things that you do in the gym.
3. You must document dates and details of other items. We recommend a Google Doc, which you will be asked to share with us at the end of Summer.
4. Please post at least 5 of your accomplishments on the TJ’s Gym Facebook Members Page (not a member? JOIN NOW!)
